My Story
Yes, that's me at the ripe old age of 5 channeling my inner Carrie Bradshaw even before she was a twinkle in Candace Bushnell's eye. To say I've always loved fashion and style would be an understatement. I've been obsessed! As far back as I can remember, it has played such an important role in my life. I used it to stand out from the crowd. I used it to be part of the crowd. And I also used it to hide the pain and insecurity I often felt inside. I had bright-colored clothes that I knew would make me feel better when I was having a hard day and sparkly shoes that made me feel like I could conquer the world. Even as a young child I knew the power of style, and I used it to change my life.
So, it's really no surprise that life took me into a career in fashion and style, although I took many detours along the way including a 16-year corporate career in non-profit business management and communications. But I eventually found my way to the right path and what I really feel is my purpose, and in 2010 I became a Certified Image Consultant and Stylist and started my own personal styling business to help others unleash the power of their personal style. I've worked with people from all walks of life around the world and I feel truly blessed that I get to help others each and every day.
But my journey didn't end when I started my personal styling business, in fact, it really only just began! I found a new purpose: to help others achieve their dream of being a personal stylist. I combined my knowledge and passion for personal styling, with my extensive business skills, and my own personal experience of growing a successful styling business, and I now help people to become skilled personal stylists and grow successful businesses for themselves. All of this takes place in my online training school, The Style Academy International which I launched in 2017.
And no, you guessed it! My journey still didn't end there! I completed a graduate certificate in female entrepreneurship from Cornell University in 2019, became an NLP coach to not only help my personal styling clients but also my students, and I published my first book, The Little Black Book of Style Secrets.
So, as you can see, I'm obsessed with style! Style has played such a powerful role in my life and I'm blessed to be able to share that with others.
